Sketchup software by Trimble is a highly efficient and easy to use 3D composing tool. But it is static - you cannot use it to show movement. Its models can also be transformed into STL mode. I have two questions: (1) Can Sketchup or STL 3d models be imported into 3d simulink? (2) what are the prerequisites for using 3d simulink (besides Mathlab?).

Documentation is your friend :).
Looks like you can do this maybe 2 ways:
  1. Import STL file directly into the 3D world. Documentation here.
  2. Convert STL to VRML file using stl2vrml function.
As to the requirements for Simulink 3D Animation, see here.

Thank you Swarooph for your answer. But you should note that your reference regarding REQUIREMENTS does not include any mention of the Simulink 3d animator

Hello Daniel,
I am not sure what you get when you click the 3rd link. But here is what I see as it regards to requirements for Simulink 3D animation.
