Hi,
I am trying to find my way around the simbiology toolbox. I am modeling exchange between two pools of chemicals, but with the added caveat that I want to include label exchange. Therefore I have 4 pools, and two reactions, but the reactions have the same rates as they are insensitive to the presence of an isotope. I want to include an algebraic rule that pyr_c + pyr_h =1 and that lac_c + lac_h =10. The initial values for the pools are pyr_c=.1 and pyr_h=.9, and lac_c=10 and lac_h=0. When I add a rule using the workspace editor, it looks like the first figure, and error. When I open the Block property editor, the there is no way to edit the definition; it is locked. I am using a demo copy, if that makes any difference. How can I add a rule in the workspace editor?
Thanks

Hi Matthew,
When you say that the editor is locked. Do you mean that you cannot type in the Rule field that is currently displaying "null"?
The "Quantities Used by Rule" section lists all the quantities used by the rule and is editable after a rule string is specified.
Also can you tell me what version of MATLAB you are using?
Below is a screenshot of the rule string specified in the Block Property Editor:
