Wondering what the size definition 2 means in terms of rows and columns?

We do not know. rawread() is not a Mathworks-provided function. The files named rawread that are File Exchange contributions do not use the same calling sequence that you show.

I speculate that the 2 is the number of bytes to read. It probably acts the same way as the size count for fread()
