Hi,
this has been asked here many times, but I couldn't find a solution for my specific problem.
I want to put a Matlab figure into PowerPoint. Matlab is on Linux and PowerPoint on Windows on a different computer, so copy and paste is not an option.
I need really high resolution because the PowerPoint is not actually a presentation, but I use it as a poster, so raster graphics are not an option.
That leaves exporting from Matlab into .eps, .pdf, or .svg.
.eps cannot be opened by PowerPoint any longer due to security issues and I do not have the admin rights to change registry to enable that feature again.
.pdf cannot be imported into PowerPoint from what I see.
.svg can be imported with recent versions of PowerPoint, but I have PowerPoint 2010.
Thanks for any heads up!

Download the vector graphics tool gimp and you can convert between all common vector file formats (as well as edit them, draw them, etc).

I have just posted a video that shows how you can use an online conversion tool to convert the SVG file to an EMF vector file that any version of PowerPoint can use. Hope this video helps you and others with this question: https://youtu.be/V5S6vuRjEeM

Thanks for the detailed answer. Unfortunately this converter seems to change font sizes so that for example legend texts are bigger than the box they're in. Also the background axes in plots become black when converting which is not desired in my case.
