why workspacefunc.m no longer accessible to matlab?

The following error message showed up in Matlab's command window, any idea why and how to correct it? ps . I also checked and there is no ...\matlab\codetools directory!

Error detected was: MATLAB:err_parse_cannot_access_previously_accessible_file Previously accessible file "C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2015a\toolbox\matlab\codetools\initdesktoputils.m" is now inaccessible. > In matlabrc (line 118)

Uninstalling Matlab R2015a and reinstalling Matlab R2015b seems to fix the problem. And .../codetools/ directory is back in place. Still not sure what could have caused the problem I mentioned in my initial question. I also made a full backup of the Win7-Ultimate hard drive, just in case.
