The n th row of the matrix variable AF. The colon stands for all indices, and MATLAB indexes by row-then-column. Hence, AF(n,:) means "nth row, all columns".

With reference to selecting elements from a matrix ':' refers to selecting the elements from starting index to ending index. In the code AF(n,:) means selecting the nth row and all the columns. Basically it means selecting full n'th' row.
