Supervised classification using GMM

I am trying to figure out how will i be able to perform supervised Gaussian mixture model classification on MNIST data set. I have tried to look for sources in the internet for explanation , but failed. Please if someone have any expertise, suggest me a good reading or explanation of the process. Thanks
