run matlab as root (ubuntu)

I want to install matlab for the user root. However when I activate matlab it looks like it has activated matlab because it cleanly exits the matlab activation gui. But when I start matlab again it goes straigt into the activation process again.

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 32bit Matlab R2009B and my license is: Standard - Individual

Is it possible to activate matlab as root, for an individual license?
