Unable to view function workspace variables in MATLAB function block in Simulink

I set a breakpoint inside of my MATLAB function block, and was expecting to be able to see the function's local workspace variables, however they are all blank. In the command console there is a <<debug and I can manually type the variable and it will print its contents, however this is not what I want to be forced to do. There is no option to select a different function call stack from "base." Why can I not view these in the workspace?

What Acceleration mode are you using? In any mode other than Acceleration off, MATLAB Function Blocks are compiled and so might not have the same workspace structure.

I'm using "Normal" for my accelerator mode.
