finding mean optical flow

So I have a video feed and can find the optical flow between the current and previous frame. This produces a representation of the image but with fully optical flow vectors as shown in the attachment. Each person therefore has a whole load of optical flow vectors but id like to find the mean optical flow for a person and then go on to use this for further applications. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
