m functions in MATLAB userpath are not being found.

I just recently updated MATLAB2017a to 2017b and all my m functions in the MATLAB home folder (userpath = ~/Documents/MATLAB) are no longer being "found" by matlab. They are undefined whenever I try to use them. Which error is that and how can I fix it?
