IF I rename a variable name with eval after how I can save the variable with the new name?

Hi, I have a problem to save a value with the name create by using "eval" function. Here the code

eventfile=fullfile(path,cellType);
y = getfield(stage, event);
first_part = y(:,[1:950]);
second_part = y(:,[951:1900]);
b = size(first_part,2);
z = [];
for i = 1:b
    a = first_part(:,i);

    Z_second = zscore(c);
    z = [Z_first Z_second];

filename =  event;

It looks like your code is missing some initial bit, maybe a function.

It is most likely that using eval is the wrong approach. Unfortunately, we can't tell you what the right approach is until you explain what the ultimate goal is.

On a side note, your code looks overly complicated. Particularly, I don't see the point of splitting your y into two parts.

the split is to compare the first and the second part of my data, anyhow this is the beginning of my function: ZscoreUnitResponses(path,cellType,stage,event).

ZscoreUnitResponses(path,cellType,stage,event)

means you're calling a function called ZscoreUnitResponses stored somewhere else.

If the above is the code for the function ZscoreUnitResponses, then the first line should be similar to

function ZscoreUnitResponses(path,cellType,stage,event)

or possibly

function [someoutput, someotheroutput] = ZscoreUnitResponses(path,cellType,stage,event)

eval is what beginners use to force themselves into writing slow, complex, buggy code that is hard to debug. The best solution is to avoid the problem entirely by writing better code. Read this to know more:

save the "z" value is a bit meaningless. Save to disk? in a mat file?
