Custom made Matlab funcions errors in Simulink

After many years working with Matlab I am now becoming more involved with Simulink.

My work with Simulink will be mainly about using my custom made Matlab programs that have been thoroughly tested in the Matlab environment.

Upon on including my programs (m files) as Simulink blocks I get an helluva lot of Simulink errors. For instance the diff matlab function seems to give trouble among others.

What should I car of when adding custom made Matlab m files (functions) as Simulink blocks?

Would you please point me out good books about the subject as well?
