MATLAB stuck on launch window

64 bit Linux

R2018b

Problem persists even after complete uninstall/reinstall of everything MATLAB and my config directory locally.

No problems having license validated during the install. While the hang seems network related, license validation was nearly instant then.

Start matlab, splash window comes up, CPU at 100%, nothing happens even after 35 minutes.

Control-C does not kill the application, only Control-Z breaks it.
