fuzzy edge detection problem

I am finding edges with fuzzy edge detection. The algo is finding edges but there are some problems like the edges are not continuous and also thick. There are also some unwanted pixels/false edge pixels.

How can I solve these problems.

I also want to compare the result of this method with already existing some methods of edge detection. What parameters can i compare and how?
