Why doesn't MATLAB 2019b open on macOS Mojave?
Mostrar comentarios más antiguos
When I click on MATLAB 2019b in the applications folder or in the launchpad, nothing happens. There is no pop-up window, no error message and absolutely no indication as to what is happening. There is a dot showing up next to the application in the dock indicating that it is running. But this dot goes away after 3 seconds, and the application never opens.

Note that problems with Catalina are not necessarily the same cause as the same symptom for Mojave :(
However for both, see https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/480796-not-responding-on-startup-macos-mojave#answer_398840 which a third party developer tracked down a problem.

Open up Finder and then head to Matlab in the applications folder.
Right click and select "Show Package Contents."
Open "activation.app"
Finish the activation and it should work from there. Thats how it worked for me!

Hello, you might have solved the issue. But I am posting my solution incase someone else needs.
I tried many different ways of this issue and finally found the following solution to this:
On MAC go to, /Applications/MATLAB_R2019a/bin/maci64/update_installer
Update 8 was installed and then it asked for Activation. Now the MATLAB works fine.
