Global Variable in a Matlab function called by a Matlab System block. Simulink

I have a couple of different Matlab System blocks that call the same function. The fucntion itself uses global parameters.

When stepping through the Simulink it appears as if these parameters are not updating the global definintion.

How do I define these?

I can run the code in Matlab the global definitions update as expected.
