How can i model a rotating shaft with a piezoelectric material patch in MATLAB?
I want to show how stresses in the shaft produce an electric potential that can be harvested

You have a few options:
  1. You can use the Flexible Shaft block in Simscape Driveline to model the shaft. You can measure the deflection and use that to calculate the potential. This will handle torsional and bending compliance only.
  2. You can use the Flexible Cylindrical Beam in Simscape Multibody block to model the shaft. This will handle deflection along all six degrees of freedom.
The Piezo Stack model in Simscape Driveline will give you some ideas for parameterization. See example Hybrid Linear Actuator to see it used in a model.
