handles function in a basic GUI

hi, im new in matlab, i just curious about the handle function in GUI. so i have this problem, suppose i have this code:

      x=[1:0.1:2];
      y=[1:0.1:2];
      [X,Y]=meshgrid(x,y);
    z=X.^2+Y.^2;
    coefficient=1;
      height=z.*coefficient;
    surf(X,Y,height)

suppose editbox1=coefficient that i can put any coefficient i want in the editbox. the problem is i dont know where to put the "handle." funciton in my code that i can change the height of the plot according to my editbox1.

anyone can help me?

Put it anywhere convenient. Your bigger challenge is going to be updating the values according to the edit box. This FAQ might help with that.
