Error popup: "Undefined function 'cosd' for input arguments of type 'matlab.ui​.control.N​umericEdit​Field' "

I'm coding a program using Matlab App Designer and when I try to run the program, this error pops up and I am not at all sure what to fix.

The program allows users to input numerical data, push 'start' and the program should analyse this data.

You are passing in handles to the components, not the values they contain. You need to access the specific property of the component that contains the displayed value. You can see a list of components and view their properties here.

For example, for a numericeditfield, you want to use

theta = app.orientationangleEditField.Value;
