can R2014a accept a live script?

I have tried on my MAtlab version R2014a to open a live script, so far not yet successful. I appreciate any assistance

No, it cannot. Live scripts weren't introduced until 2016a. Therefore, you must use at least version 2016a in order to open a live script.
