Delete submissions to MATLAB grader
Mostrar comentarios más antiguos
I have students who have submitted many attempts at their code, it is possible to do either of these:
- Filter so that only the most recent submission shows up for each student
- Delete older submissions for each student.
Some level of submission management would be very helpful for making MATLAB grader very useful.
Thank you.

Heather, can you tell us more about how you are accessing the student submissions? If you are using the version of MATLAB Grader hosted at grader.mathworks.com, then you have some ability to report and filter on solutions that are of most interest to you. Our documentation on creating Reports is available here: https://www.mathworks.com/help/matlabgrader/ug/download-solution-results.html
Using our custom reports, you can choose one of three report types:
- Best solution as of the due date — Includes data for the most recently submitted, best solution that each learner submitted on or before the assignment due date. The number of tests passed determines the best solution.
- Best solution as of today — Includes data for the most recently submitted, best solution that each learner submitted on or before the current date. The number of tests passed determines the best solution.
- All solutions — Includes data for all solutions that each learner tested and submitted, including solutions submitted after the assignment due date.
And when you have all of the solutions exported you can filter to look at by date, score, etc. as you wish.
If you are using MATLAB Grader in your LMS, your ability to look at the grade outcomes history for your students may be limited by your LMS vendor's gradebook functionality. But there is still the ability to browse all solutions made by your students, or to look up specific solutions using the learner-provided Solution ID in the Reports area of the problem.

I have students who have taken the course before and have provided solutions. Their old solutions still show up in the grader tool. I'd like to remove them as the problem has changed a bit and will require a new solution. Is there anyway to delete these old submissions?

One question - shoudl the students who have already taken the course stay enrolled? I.e. do you want them to be taking the course again?
If you remove students from the course, that will remove their solutions from the report. However, if you remove and then re-enroll the same student, their old submissions will reappear.
A workaround could be to add a new problem to the assignment with the updated problem. If you want to preserve the old responses, you could move the original problem to a new unpublished assignment in your course. Otherwise, just delete it.

You can download reports at the Assignment level in the hosted version of MATLAB Grader, or at the Item level in the LMS version. In both cases you can export a report that includes only the best solution for each student as of the current date, or the due date of the assignment.

More more information, see our documentation on this feature: https://www.mathworks.com/help/matlabgrader/ug/download-submissions-to-analyze-learning-outcomes.html
We do not recommend deleting users or data as a method of filtering data from reports. Rather, you can download this report and visualize and filter the data as you see fit.

I agree. I will take a look at this with the team as a possible enhancement. We can explore bringing the item level reporting from our LMS version into the hosted version.
Separately, have you considered integration with your LMS platform? That would provide you the item level reporting that you are looking for.
