Help on creating a customized mask template

Dear All,

I am trying to create a customized mask template similar to the following picture. Could someone please let me know how I should do that? In fact, I want to have a template similar to the light red pattern in the picture and apply it to different medical images. So, whenever the user inputs an image, I want to identify the areas, which have certain properties, and highlight them by that pattern. I would appreciate any help.

We have no idea what was done to create the red template/mask unless you tell us, like it's very bright or very dark areas or whatever...

Actually, this is my goal to create this template. I was searching online for mask templates and I came across this template. Now, I am trying to create the same pattern for my application. What I think is that, first I have to create a rectangular mask template which covers the entire original image. Then I can remove some parts of the mask according to some criteria. My question is how to create that rectangular mask template which has the same size of the original image.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you asking what you need to analyze in the original grayscale image to find areas indicated by the red has marked region? This would be image segmentation. OR, are you asking how to create a hash marked pattern once you know where it is supposed to be (like you have a binary image indication transparent or hash-marked)?
