Update Diagram (sample time or automatically)

Hello.
I get got a Simulink model file to work with it. This file possess all the settings we need. Now I get the problem, I have to push the buttom "update diagramm" all the time. Especely when I work with the "manual switch" to change a value.
What can I do to push this buttom not all the time? Where in the settings I can find the sample time for "update diagram"?
Thanks for help.
Daniel

"Update Diagram" runs automatically at the beginning of every simulation, but needs to be run manually if you make any manual changes (like adding/deleting blocks or modifying the manual switch) and want to make sure that your model compiles correctly before starting simulation. It does not have a "sample time", because it only needs to run once at the beginning of simulation, and not at every time-step. Perhaps using the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+D) will somewhat alleviate the pain?

Thanks for your help. But this was not exactly what I want.
Normaly, if I use a manual switch in an empty Simulink model it works. In this second you change the switch, the value on the output changes.
Maybe it helps if I tell my problem in other words. In our team file, somebody changes some settings. Now it does not work, that the output on the manual switch changes and I look for the settings. The only way to change it is Ctrl+D.
