How To Optimize Model Parameters In Simulink?

Hey there!

So, I've a physics optimization project, that I'm going to implement in Matlab. My project is about the influence of current and concentration of Na+ and K+ ions on the neuron's response, also it is based on FitzHugh–Nagumo and Morris–Lecar models. The point is to find such optimized values at which neuron's response is faster. It looks pretty easy at first: all I need to do is just create a code and optimize it, however all I figured out is that I've to write a code to solve system of differential equations. Could you please give me just a hint how can I start my project? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
