Hello all, I'm encountering some problems with calculationg the area and standard deviation and the mean of a specific ROI of an image using imcrop. I have looked at the multiROI mfile on this site and tried to apply some of its principles to the imcrop mfile. But it hasn't worked out. Does anyone have any idea of how to do this. I will be grateful thank you very much

Did you try:
croppedImage = imcrop(fullImage, cropBox); % You specify cropping locations.
meanGL = mean2(croppedImage);
sdGL = mean2(croppedImage);
See this demo that uses imfreehand, in case you're interested in that instead.
% Demo to have the user freehand draw an irregular shape over a gray scale image.
% Then it creates new images:
% (1) where the drawn region is all white inside the region and untouched outside the region,
% (2) where the drawn region is all black inside the region and untouched outside the region,
% (3) where the drawn region is untouched inside the region and all black outside the region.
% It also (4) calculates the mean intensity value and standard deviation of the image within that shape,
% (5) calculates the perimeter, centroid, and center of mass (weighted centroid), and
% (6) crops the drawn region to a new, smaller separate image.

Mr. Image analyst, the code you posted here, is there a way to implement imrect or imcrop instead of the freehand as to click and obtain the statistics of the ROI. Thanks

Yes, just use the imcrop function, either passing in the cropping rectangle or by passing in nothing and interactively sizing the box and then double clicking inside it.
