matlab window not responding

Hi,

 I am running matlab R2009b on a macbook air computer. Until yesterday everything was running properly, but today suddenly the matlab window has stopped responding. The mouse clicks and keyboard presses do not work on matlab display. I can quit the program using matlab->quit drop down menu (the drop down menu works), and I can change the size of the window, but nothing else works. matlab -nodisplay mode works properly. Any idea where the problem is and how can I fix it?
